When should clients make selections?

Anything that changes the drawings, like window sizes, layout or appliance dimensions, before the plans are final. Finishes like tile, fixtures and lighting can wait, but each one has a date by which it must be ordered to keep the schedule.

What is an allowance in a construction contract?

A set budget for an item the client hasn't chosen yet, such as $8 per square foot for tile. If the final choice costs more, the difference is added by change order.

What happens if a client changes a selection mid-job?
